What’s your most important takeaway from Q2 results we’ve seen so far and guidance updates?
RC: Q2 numbers were always going to be weak. And that was bound to be the case whether we were talking about dominant companies like Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD) and Kinder Morgan Inc (NYSE: KMI), or the biggest basket cases on our Endangered Dividends List.
But the best in class energy companies again proved their resilience. That is they absorbed what will almost certainly be the worst quarter of this energy cycle while maintaining the strength of their balance sheets and dividends, and pole position to profit in the recovery. And that’s really the bar we set for them going into Q2 earnings reporting season.
